Champagne from the Sky
In a meeting with the owners of Spy Manor Productions, I was asked if it would be possible to land a parachute at their 007 themed villa, dressed as James Bond.
We had a custom ‘Spy Manor’ branded parachute and helmet made, did some practice jumps, obtained the necessary approvals, then delivered a bottle of Champagne from the sky for the International Motor Film Awards event at Spy Manor.

“The Dependable Umbrellas of the Sky” (conference presentation)
How nature gives us all the clues;
how parachutes have been, and continue to be a part of modern day life;
and how all of this relates to tourism today (2019).

Since 2019 I have provided digital communications consulting services, and have assisted Val De Vie Estate with their digital communications strategy.
Val de Vie Estate is a multiple award winning secure luxury residential and outdoor lifestyle estate occupying 917 hectares situated between Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands of South Africa.

Provided consultancy services to Marksman’s Nest in the business planning and start-up phase, for what has become a fully accredited Firearm Training Centre providing coaching and instruction for individuals and groups, from basic firearms training through to certified law enforcement security training, K9 and anti-poaching ranger training.

At a time of an escalating rhino poaching crisis, an updated career path with structured, approved, recognised training and qualifications for game rangers was required.
Approved in 2015, the Anti-Poaching Ranger & Anti-Poaching Manager training and certification deals with the requirements of going up against modern, heavily armed and equipped, highly organised and increasingly determined poachers.
I was part of a team working with various stakeholders, bodies and organisations, as well as industry leaders and experts in the fields of game ranging and anti-poaching, to formalise and certify these much needed new training programmes and qualifications, which allow for accredited training of rangers both locally and internationally.
During this time I also consulted for and assisted the International Anti-Poaching Foundation with their digital communications strategy.

“The greatest invention in rugby since the kicking tee replaced the bucket of sand”
Provided consultancy services in the business planning and start-up phase and assisted with Centre for Human Performance Sciences sport science testing, to develop what is now a globally recognised brand, built from the ground up now with 8 international patents and a registered trademark in multiple countries.
A revolutionary rugby training aid, ShadowBall has impacted the culture and training habits of some of the world’s top sports teams.

Synergy Moon was formed in 2010 as a team competing for the US$30M Google Lunar X Prize.
The challenge called for privately funded teams to soft-land a robotic spacecraft on the Moon, travel 500 metres and transmit images, video, data, an sms and an email back to Earth.
I became involved from 2016 to assist with communications strategy, sponsorship presentations and introductions to potential sponsors.
Synergy Moon was one of five finalists (out of an original 33 entrants) with a verified launch contract.
As none of the five final teams were able to launch their vehicles by the 31st March 2018 deadline, the US$30M worth of prizes went unclaimed.

Logistics & Operations Manager – 2012 National Campaign
The ‘SkyDive for Rhinos’ Campaign grew into the largest and most successful public fundraising and awareness campaign for South Africa’s endangered Rhinos, and became the largest concerted effort for a good cause in South African skydiving history.
The campaign saw five events in five provinces over two months, with an additional sixth event being added due to popular demand. The campaign also included at the Margate, Virginia, and Africa Aerospace and Defence Airshows.
Numerous public figures, sporting stars, actors, actresses, models, television and radio personalities, presenters, schools, colleges, universities, pensioners, archaeologists, producers, DJs, artists, conservationists, Company Directors and CEOs participated.
The campaign was featured in (and often on the front page of) local, provincial, and national newspapers (including the front page of the Sunday Times); in various magazines; in on-line blogs, websites, and e-newsletters; on numerous local, and several national radio stations; on national television; and live on SABC Morning / Weekend Live when SABC Sports presenter Vaylen Kirtley made a Tandem ‘SkyDive for Rhinos’ on World Rhino Day.
Close on R 7 Million was raised toward strategic Rhino anti-poaching efforts in South Africa.

In 2006 I was headhunted and tasked with setting up and managing a high profile parachute display team for Garmin South Africa.
Flying Garmin branded parachutes with the slogan “you’ll be lost without it”, the JumpGarmin SkyDiving Team infiltrated high profile motoring, marine, sport & fitness and airshow events nationally, delivering excellent ROI for the brand by being incorporated at prime time… to often scoop front page media and live TV exposure.
The JumpGarmin SkyDiving Team is regarded as being the most innovative and successful partnership between skydivers and a major sponsor of display skydiving in South Africa to date.

A Life Less Ordinary – G-Tribe Launch – 2010

Expedition Photographer
Digital Mapping
Georeferencing Mapping Data
A diplomatic FIFA Legacy Project in the run up to the 2010 South African Soccer World Cup, the Kingsley Holgate led ‘Boundless Southern Africa Expedition‘ was an initiative to link and unite ‘Nature, Culture and Community’ across Southern Africa.
The expedition travelled through nine countries, seven Transfrontier Conservation Areas and more than thirty National Parks and Nature Reserves whilst distributing water carrying school lap top desks, water purifying life drinking straws, mobile community box libraries, reading glasses, mosquito nets and malaria prevention education.
Along the way the expedition team upgraded some 30 soccer pitches, and hosted numerous community soccer challenges.
Driving a fully kitted out Garmap & Garmin branded LandRover 90 I was the expedition photographer and also compiled digital mapping and georeferenced data for Garmin / Garmap and the Peace Parks Foundation.
National Geographic Explorer and Expedition Leader Kingsley Holgate described the route as
“one of the greatest 4×4 adventure routes in the World”
